Megalopolis - 特大都市 (tè dà dū shì)

 megalopolis - 特大都市

Walking through Hong Kong and Chongqing means having your neck bent backwards, your gaze climbing upwards without ever finding the sky.

These images reconstruct that architectural vertigo that a single photograph cannot capture - multiple shots blended together to recreate the stratified density where traditional temples coexist with modernist skyscrapers, colorful taxis and neon signs. Inspired by the chaotic layers of Akira, but rooted in documentary photography.

The tiny human figures emphasize the inhuman scale of the megalopolis: cities that grow vertically out of necessity, where the only way to exist is to rise.

Multiple photographs shot with ultra-wide lenses and composited into single images. Hong Kong & Chongqing.
